Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
It is supported on a spirally-turned column leading to a tripod base and pad feet. 29ins (73.5cms) high. English circa 1770-1785.

NB: This is a genuine 18th century example. Many were later carved in Victorian times from plain Georgian tilt-top tables but these bear the tell-tale signs of three small ‘plugged’ holes in the centre of the top, where the screws that hold the catch were revealed when the centre was ‘routed-out’.
