Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1930s.
They are of very good quality, with gorgeous carving throughout. They sit on turned and fluted legs, with acanthus leaf carving and scrolled armrests. The proportions are very generous and they are very comfortable.
The gilt finish has just the right amount of wear, with different colours coming through the gilt. The frames are solid and perfectly distressed with a lovely patina. We have just had them re-upholstered in a cream cotton fabric.
