Description

John Crane of Bromsgrove, circa 1790

Height: 7ft 3" Depth: 9” Width: 18.5”

Fine quality oak and mahogany crossbanded eight day longcase clock by John Crane of Bromsgrove, circa 1790.

Well proportioned case with swan-neck pediment hood with brass paterae.

Turned and fluted columns to the hood capped with brass Corinthian capitals.

Long shaped top trunk door, flanked by quarter turned fluted columns.

Fielded panel base with canted corners mounted on ogee bracket feet.

Arched japanned dial by "Wilson of Birmingham" with raised gold leaf decoration to the corners and extremely well executed continental harbour scene to the arch.

Fine quality fully restored 8 day movement, striking the hours on a single bell.

Finely fretted original blued steel hands.

A superb quality very original clock, fully restored to showroom condition.

2 years mechanical guarantee.
