Size: 7ft 5in x 4ft 2in (226 x 126cm).

Antique South Caucasian rug with scarce yellow ground.

Circa 1880.

This is an outstanding rug with a clear yellow ground containing six multi coloured diamond shaped latch hook medallions, each centred with a star or other tribal device. The field is filled with an array of design elements including, animals, people, stars, birds and even a man on horseback. The main border design is a variation on the 'Kufic' design. This is a striking and most unusual rug.

The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium pile. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
