Description

A very rare late 18th century silver apple corer with reeded detailing. The handle is a very well matched period replacement with similar reeding and flared fluting down the stem. The corer is hallmarked with the King's head and lion passant and the maker's mark is a bit rubbed but appears to be that of the short lived partnership of Richard Carter, Daniel Smith & Robert Sharp, c.1778/1779. The handle has maker's initials R.T, lion passant and date mark for 1803.

It measures 15.2cm (6") long and weighs 42g / 1.3ozt.

In excellent condition. As mentioned there is some rubbing to the marks inside the corer and a couple of very minor dings to the handle.
