1930’S 115 Piece Canteen of Cutlery for 12 People

1920 - 1940
Description

An extensive silver-plated cutlery service of 115 pieces for 12 people. Made by the renowned company, Elkington, Silversmiths & Cutlers, during the Art Deco period.

The cutlery is stored in its original 3 drawer oak canteen box, which has just been repolished. The 3 drawers sit behind 2 doors with a working lock . The top of the box has a brass shield and 2 brass inset handles to the sides. Internally, each drawer lined in grey baize with labels to identify each cutlery section.

The 115 cutlery set comprises of the following pieces:

Pair of meat carvers

One mustard spoon

1 soup ladle

1 gravy spoon

Pair of fish carvers

4 salt spoons

2 sauce ladles

6 serving spoons

12 table knives

12 table forks

12 tablespoons

12 fish forks

12 fish knives

12 cheese knives

12 dessert spoons

12 dessert forks

Each piece with identifying marks of Elkington and the silver plated knife blades marked ‘Elkington, Silversmiths & Cutlers’. The xylonite handles have a monogrammed letter, possibly ‘B’.

Overall in very good condition with some signs of vintage wear.
