Superb 19th Century French 0.950 Silver Tastevin Wine Taster

Description

A very fine quality French silver wine taster with both linear and circular indentations to apparently enable the optimum tasting of both white and red wines. The above sterling 0.950 standard Minerva mark is stamped on the both the dish and the handle and there is also a maker's mark stamped to the handle. The original custodian, "F. DUFOUR", had their name engraved to the side.

It measures 8cm (3 1/8") across the rim, 10.5cm (4 1/8") rim to handle and 3.3cm (1 1/4") high to the thumb rest. It weighs 86g / 2.8ozt.

In excellent condition with no damage or repair. Minor signs of age and use, a couple of very minor bruises to the larger circular indentations, as to be expected from a piece that has such a practical social history.
