Tinker & Toad has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Will it be chintz, silk, velvet, muslin or a tapestry perhaps!? The upper canopy is supported with barley twist columns that form part of the mirrored section to the head and foot boards. The head and foot boards display the most elegant fretwork panels. The centre panel with floral decoration is flanked by urns and spindles. The bed stands on four strong and sturdy posts that are square sectioned and intersected with attractive turned detail, they are topped with lovely gardrooned melon finials. The bed posts and rails have craved scrolling foliage. The oval mirrors stand in a decorative frame and are adjustable via thumb screws. The bed slats come out in three equal parts and the whole bed breaks down into sections for easy transport and installation. A rare antique bed that is becoming increasingly hard to find and will definitely be the statement piece in any bedroom or boudoir! This bed can take a standard 4ft 6" or 5ft mattress.
