Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The top is inset with a polished brass carrying handle which is lucky enough to retain it's original engraving "M.E.Porter".
The top is beautifully fitted with a central compartment for a pocket watch, today perhaps used for a favourite bracelet or wrist watch. There are two long ring compartments running down each side, each would hold about seven rings. The interior of the lid retains it's silk tufted lining.
There are two large drawers below, plenty of room for all valuables, each opened with the polished handle to the front.
The fall-front retains it's original bevelled thick glass.
An exceptional example in excellent condition with a bright polished patina. Measures 12 1/4" x 10" x 7 1/2" to top of domed lid.
