Antique Regency White Marble Single Fusee Mantel Clock By Nicoll London Ormolu.

This stunning antique regency mantel clock has a white marble case with a round top which is ribbed to the side. The clock then sits on a turned which marble supports with inlet, curling ormolu mounts to the front. There is then a square which marble body to the case which has further ribbing to the sides as well as a stunning ormolu mount to the front depicting two griffins with a harp to the centre. There is then a square marble base with a beautifully patterned ormolu mount to the front and sides. Finally the clock is finished by four, lovely, round ormolu feet.

The dial is then gilded and set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring of dots to the outside marking the minutes. The dial then has a beautiful surround in the form of an eternal snake eating its own tail. The centre of the dial then has a stunning, intricate engine turned pattern. Finally the dial is finished by two thin, shaped hands.

The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is a single chain fusee example of the upmost quality and ticks away as it should. The movement is complete with its regulating pendulum and winding key. Finally the movement is engraved by its maker “Nicoll Great Portland St London” to the back.

A truly superb and rare regency fusee clock that would look fantastic in any home or as part of a larger collection.

W Nicoll is listed as being a watch and clock maker at No.117, Great Portland Street, Cavendish Square, London between 1790 and 1835.

It measures approximately:
