Antique Single Fusee Four Glass Library Mantel Clock by John Walker London

19th century
Description

Antique Single Fusee Four Glass Library Mantel Clock By John Walker London.

This lovely antique library clock has a mahogany case with a shaped top adorned with a brass carry handle. There is then a moulding to the top edge leading to the square body of the case which has glass viewing windows to the front, back, and sides. There is then a further “bell” shaped moulding to the bottom leading to the final moulding and base. Finally the case is finished by four, thin wooden feet.

The dial is then silvered and set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring to the outside marking the minutes. Each corner of the dial then has a lovely scrolling engraving. The centre of the dial is then signed by the maker “JOHN WALKER 1 South Molton St LONDON”. Finally the dial has a lovely bevelled and silvered surround as well as having two lovely shaped hands.

The movement is then wound from the front and adjusted from the back. It comes complete with its regulating pendulum, winding key, and travel nut and ticks away as it should. The movement is then signed like the dial and reads “JNo WALKER LTD 65 NEW BOND ST LONDON 6842”.

The clock then has its working locks and keys for the front and back drawer.

It measures approximately:

- 7.25” / 18.25cm Wide.

- 5.5” / 14cm Deep.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
