A superb solid silver Card Tray / Salver, of the finest quality workmanship. It''s wavy circular form with pie crust border is particularly attractive. It bears no engravings or embossing and is a lovely plain polished silver. Hallmarks, along with the Lion Passant (indicating sterling silver) can be clearly seen underneath for the Sheffield Assay office with a date mark 1928, along with the maker’s marks for the renowned silver maker: Mappin & Webb The Maker''s mark is also stamped on the base.
An exceptional and stylish tray. The craftmanship and quality is evident of the fine maker Mappin & Webb. Would make a wonderful gift or could be used as a presentation trophy! It is also a great heavy gauge of silver (248 grams).
