Sold by: Mark Seabrook Antiques

A fine example of these very collectable chairs from the mid 18thc...it is known as a Windsor comb back armchair and is probably attributed to the west country......the wide seat, H form stretchers, single shaped arm pierced by eight hand-shaped spindles supporting a shaped comb rail with terminal ear forms to each end and the urn shaped central splat are typical of this region. The chair is made from English elm, fruitwood (cherry) and beech and is in excellent original condition with a natural patina...

English. C1740-60.
