Antique Victorian Walnut and Mahogany Marquetry Writing Slope Desk C1880

Antique Victorian Walnut , Mahogany and Marquetry inlaid writing slope desk and dating from around 1880. Constructed from quality walnut and mahogany it has a beautifully inlaid top leading to a writing slope with faux leather skiver set within an inlaid marquetry surround. The top raises to reveal storage space with three pigeon holes and a single drawer. The sides are also inlaid. All of the marquetry inlay is of fruitwoods, satinwood, olive wood and burr walnut. It is raised on lyre shaped supports on turned and carved legs carved with acanthus leaf on carved feet on castors and joined by a turned stretcher.

With a lovely deep colour and patination and oozing all the charm and character of the period. Our furniture is cleaned and polished using traditional waxing methods.
