Antique Metalware 17thc Brass Single Candlestick On Octagonal Base. Spanish C1670-80.

A fine example of a late 17thc brass single candlestick...it stands on a wide octagonal base with ''raised'' drip tray and has a triple ridged ball knop stem , (a feature that pre-dates the inverted acorn knop and so helps us to date this candlestick).... the solid cast stem screws into the base....the candle socket is large with a wide raised rim at the top and the base, with no aperture or opening to eject the candle.....in excellent condition with a mellow natural colour.
Spanish. C1670-80.
