The rear leg having a hinged gate action to support the fold-over top when opened. The shaped fold-over top fitted with brass hinges opening to reveal circular dished candle-stick rests to the corners and oval dished ‘guinea wells’ for holding coins or gambling chips . The interior lined with a later period-style colourful needlework or tapestry gaming surface , featuring a floral border with playing cards of various suits, shaped Chinese mother o’pearl gambling tokens and floral sprigs to the centre.
