French Napoleon III Bronze Gilt Mantel Clock by Raingo Freres

Description

An extremely good quality French Napoleon III bronze gilt mantel clock with scrolling leaf design throughout, flaming urns to the sides and eagle to the front draped in floral garlands adorned with female figure and child holding a medallion. The clock has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals and a French eight day movement which strikes the hours and half hours on a bell with outside count wheel.

The movement back plate and dial has the makers name:-

Zacharie Joseph Raingo was born in Belgium in 1775 who created clocks and orreries, one of which was purchased by King George IV and now resides in Windsor Castle. Raingo Freres was established in 1823 by his four sons who created beautiful works which were supplied to Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie. They won many medals for their superb quality of work, examples can be seen in the Louvre.

The clock movement has been cleaned and serviced and comes with a 12 month guarantee.
