George Houston 1869-1947.Painter and printmaker Born in Dairy,Ayrshire where he continued to live,also in Glasgow.He was elected RSW,RI, and RSA also showing at the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts,Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool,Fine Art Society and elsewhere.Much of his work was done in Ayrshire and Argyllshire.He was a member of Edinburgh and Glasgow Arts Clubs.Several public galleries hold examples of work by an artist who painted in the the impressionist manner. ‘ West Kilbride,North Ayrshire,Scotland ‘ signed charcoal drawing dated 1932; image size 35.5x23.5 cms,framed size 59.5x44.5 cms.Original simple wood frame with new mount.Some minor foxing and staining not distracting from overall image.
