Magnificent C18th large carved oak eagle; of exceptional colour and patination, intricately carved in solid oak giving realistic detail throughout. His raised head being slightly turned with a powerful expression and the outspread wings having slightly raised feathers. Perched with his finely carved talons gripping a sphere. This impressive sculpture possibly originally used as a lectern.
