Gatsby Jewellery Ltd has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The stones are rubover set in a yellow gold and sit below ornate silver scroll-work set with four rose cut diamonds. Between each of the ruby drops is a further silver drop, featuring a (slightly larger) rose cut diamond. Extraordinary, impressive and rare.

Accompanied by a ruby report from Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) stating the rubies shows no indication of heating.
Cut – Pear cut rubies and rose cut diamonds.
Colour – The diamonds are I to K.

Clarity – The diamonds are VS2 to SI2.
Carat – The total approximate ruby weight is 3.50 carat, with approximately 0.42 carat of diamonds.
Circa – 1850.
Measurements – The chain is 16 inches. The longest drop (centre) is 21.45mm.
Metal – The chain is 9k gold. The ruby drops are 18k gold. The diamond drops are silver backed in 18k gold. All tested.
