A set of 12 mahogany dining chairs of Chippendale design C1890 by J & T Scott of Edinburgh.

These chairs have the feature of carved eagle heads to the splats, the design of which relates to 18th Irish Chippendale design chairs .

J&T Scott we’re cabinet makers and upholsterers who had premises at 10 George St Edinburgh from the middle of the 19th century. Throughout its years of manufacturing high quality furniture the company were held in high esteem by notable institutions and nobility. They supplied furnishings for the Royal Society of Edinburgh, the Scottish National Gallery and the meeting room of the Donaldson Hospital.
