Corvidae Antique has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
Brilliant cut gemstones didn't appear until later and the old cuts didn't sparkle as much as modern stones so it gave them a little help. Practically, it just means you should keep them away from water to avoid it leaking behind the stones and damaging the foil - don't wear them to go swimming or do the washing-up!

The ring tests as nine-carat gold though there are no hallmarks; we believe the head of the ring was taken from a more dainty shank and reset onto its current band, quite possibly still in the 19th century. There is a faint dark line where the shank has been soldered on the inside.

The ring is in very good antique condition with minor abrasions to the stone facets, as you would expect with a ring of this age.
Size: M (UK), approx 6.5 (US). The paste-set face of the ring measures approx 1.3 x 1.2cm.
Weight: 2.7g.
