Antique Late 18th Century Carved Oak Court Cupboard C1780-90

Antique late 18Th Century Carved Oak Court Cupboard and dating from around the time of George 111 c1780-90. Constructed fro. Quality oak it has a flared and stepped cornice top with Ross banded frieze over a central panel with small cushioned panels and with half turned mouldings. This is flanked on either side by a small door with geometric moulded panels and working key and with half turned mouldings to the side and both with an internal shelf. The base has a moulded edge with a deep frieze of lunette carving and to the centre there is a panel depicting the letter J & B with a. Ar Ed heart to the centre. This is above a central panelled door flanked on either side by a further panel. All three panels have lozenge mouldings surrounded by carved harebell design . Internally there is a single shelf. It has panelled sides with carved linen fold design. It is raised on a plinth base on squat bun feet. The top removes from the base for ease of transporting. We think this lovely court cupboard was made as a marriage piece.
