Leopald ZILLER
German 1913 - 2003
Leopold Ziller was a German painter who was born in 1913. Ziller lived and painted most of his life in France and Italy. He is renowned for seascapes and architectural views such as Venice and the Bosphorus (Istanbul - Turkey).
His work shows distinct similarities with Felix Ziem in style and subject. His style is distinguished and talented and although he has not exhibited in major salons, his work is considered extremely competent and sought after by collectors around the world.
Ziller's work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from 750 USD to 11,164 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 1998 the record price for this artist at auction is 11,164 USD for On the Bosphourus, sold at Christie's South Kensington in 2009. The artist died in 2003.
