Antique Silver Waltham Pocket Watch and Chain

Antique silver Waltham Traveler pocket watch & chain.

The watch has a seven jewel Traveler grade movement which is working nicely. The movement has nicely patterned plates, a Breguet hairspring for enhanced precision and is fully signed together with the serial number 26,673,675 which dates it back to 1928. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1901 with the AB mark for Alfred Bedford, manager of Waltham UK.

The movement and case are not original to each other, it may well be that the whole movement was replaced as a more economical option than a repair, as in the case of water damage.

The front of the case is good condition. The back of the watch has a few small “dings”.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in lovely condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a single chain, 30cm long including the T-bar and clasp, together with a later 1950s fob awarded for a darts competition.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
