Antique William IV Rosewood & Leather Armchair

19th century
Description

An excellent original antique William IV period spoon back armchair in solid rosewood and leather. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1830-40’s period.

It is of super quality, with fine carving and beautiful deep buttoned leather upholstery. The back rest is angled making this very comfortable, there is a generous seating area yet it has a fairly small overall size.

The rosewood has a gorgeous colour tone and patina, with stunning grain patterns. The scrolled arms are beautifully carved and this sits on turned legs with original brass casters.

The condition is excellent for its age, it was re-polished and re-upholstered by the previous owner. There is just some minor wear here and there, commensurate for age.

Width – 25 inches , 64 cm

Depth – 31 inches , 79 cm

Height – 37 inches , 94 cm

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
