Description

Superbly stylish and good sized pair of matching 1930s Art Deco candlesticks. Hallmarked nickel-silver bases and with tall uranium glass columns. Lovely condition and one Art Deco admirers will appreciate. Felt bases have been added to the bottom of the sticks for added protection to surfaces. Both the collars and bases are stepped graduated circles and are hallmarked. In very good condition with only very mild surface scratches to the silver.

The most common colour of uranium glass is pale yellowish-green, which in the 1930s led to the nickname "Vaseline glass" based on a perceived resemblance to the appearance (which was a yellow-green colour) of Vaseline brand petroleum jelly as formulated and commercially sold at that time.
