Vienna Porcelain Group, C. 1745.

18th century
Description

A rare Vienna porcelain figure group, c. 1745. Finely modelled as a seated young lady, being accompanied by a young man, who holds her hand. Set upon a shaped mound base, and glazed in white.

Impressed Beehive mark to the unglazed base.

The white glaze enhances the sculptural quality of this, and similar figures made throughout Europe in the mid 18th Century. Many such figures were coloured in the 19th Century, to appeal to the taste of the day. It is quite rare to find a figure of this type that has not been redecorated.

Medium: Porcelain

Height: 14.5 cm, 5 3/4”.

Width: 9 cm, 3 1/2”.

Depth: 10 cm, 3 7/8”.

Condition: Chips to the edge of his coat, and hat; two fingers on her right hand, and tip of her right shoe. Firing crack to the base. Commensurate with the age of the figure. Please see images for detail.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
