Description

A splendid French late 19th century walnut pedestal desk of generous proportions. Very well constructed in straight grain, or red walnut. With a series 9 drawers, all lockable with the key supplied. With a pull-out slide to each side which can be used to extend the working space. The top fitted with a sumptuous green leather writing surface, replete with gilt tooling to the surrounds. The 2 banks of shorter pedestal drawers are flanked by architectural pilasters. The pedestals have raised diamond shaped motifs to each side and the rear. The desk is finished to the rear so it could be free-standing within a room if desired. This desk has been sympathetically refinished in our workshops to a very high standard. It is now offered for sale in excellent condition, with a rich colour and patina. Splits into 3 sections for ease of installation.
