Rene Lalique Alaska (fox) ashtray in rare alexandrite glass

Introduced in 1931

Marcilhac page ref:281

Alexandrite glass is dichroic meaning two colours. Due to the glass containing neodymium under different lighting conditions the glass magically changes colour.

In daylight the glass appears a lilac colour and under artificial light it is a turquoise colour

Rene Lalique only made a few examples of Alexandrite glass

The base of this ashtray is also like no other having facet cuts

The condition is very good with no damage or faults
