Stunning & Very Heavy William Bateman II Sugar Basin c1833 515gm. (16.4 troy ounces)
Superb quality, made from a very heavy gauge of sterling silver, gilded interior and extensive raised detailing, twin handled. Crisply hallmarked to the base with the hallmarks fro William Bateman !!, 1883, London assay.
Obviously given as a present at a later date as to the base there is an inscription ''Mary Ann Mansell Lukis Feb 24, 1869'' engraved to the underside of the base foot rim.
