Description
An extraordinary Meissen porcelain teapot and cover, c. 1830. The globular body, moulded to one side, with a group of three cats, on a grassy mound; the other side, with a St. Bernard. A squirrel sits beneath the spout, eating a nut, whilst a parrot is perched next to the scroll handle. The rest of the teapot is moulded with ducks in flight, and butterflies. All coloured in vibrant enamels. Having a similarly decorated cover, surmounted by a bird finial. Crossed swords mark in underglaze blue, and impressed model number to the base. Medium: Porcelain Height: 10.5 cm, 4 1/8”. Width: 17 cm, 6 5/8”. Depth: 10 cm, 4”. Condition: Excellent.
