Description

A very interesting Victorian watercolour of a young woman.

The picture could be said to be illuminated as the background is silver, an old technique used in medieval manuscripts.

The subject matter is charming, a young woman with her dog on her knee reading a letter.

I have no idea of the origin of the picture but it feels as if it might be French? Circa 1900.

It is in very good condition, no paint missing.

The frame is in a distressed state but would appear to be original as is the glass.

Oval picture W 13.5 cm x H 16.5 cm
