A Late 18th Century Silver Patch Box

A gorgeous silver patch box from the late 18th Century period. This beautiful example is of circular form with a pull-off lid. The base is decorated with a naive double band of dot engraving and the lid has gorgeous leaf and stipple engraving, with a large central cartouche. Patch boxes are interesting and collectable items. They were for keeping 'beauty spots' in, which were a regular feature of the Georgian's toilette practices, both for women and men alike. A charming collector's piece, suitable for use as a small pillbox. Dimensions below.
