Superb Antique English Brass Bound Burr Walnut Tea Caddy C.1860

Description

Dating to the Victorian era, around 1860 this is a highly sought-after burl walnut tea caddy with it's decorative domed lid and exquisite brass mounts including down the back, a sign of true quality. The brass is beautifully chased to enhance it's decorative appeal. It also has an integral swing handle to the top of the dome.

The interior has two lidded compartments each with an Ivory or bone knob; one compartment for Black Tea, the other for Green Tea, the two would have been blended to one's taste within a teapot.

The box comes complete with a working key and is in excellent all round condition, measuring 8 7/8" wide x 4 3/4" deep x 6 1/2" tall to top of dome (excluding handle).
