Description

An Edwardian two person rosewood and mahogany sofa settee, with inlaid decoration c1900. The main carcass of the sofa is made of mahogany but the back stretcher is rosewood shaped to accommodate two seated people. The back stretcher is inlaid with a lighter wood, such as boxwood, with a foliage and urn design. The back is slatted to create an elegant effect, with inlaid vertical mahogany panels for each seat. The arms and legs curve outwards are are line inlaid. The upholstery is more recent than 1910 but aspires to an early 20thc, slightly deco design, with a greens/grey palette and double piping. Excellent condition. Perfect for a hall, sitting room or bedroom.
