Rare Portrait Once Hung in the Reichstag Parliament Berlin of" Field Marshal Paul Von Hindenburg "1847-1934 33 X 36 Inches

1900 - 1920
Description

Liberated rare portrait which was seized by a british soldier & brought back to britain in 1945 by an nco in the devon & dorset regiment.

This long lost art treasure was the subject of an investigation by the german government & embassy in london some years ago into looted german art .

The portrait which was a long lost art treasure depicting germanys last leader before hitler took power, said to have hung for years in the famous german parliamentory building "the reichstag".

Hilter may well have sat beneath the portrait or gaized into the eyes with thoughts of seizing power.

Eventually after legal negotiations and discussion, the german government renounced an ownership claim and the portrait was released by british police who had earlier taken it into custody.

A very rare chance to buy a piece of real history depicting pre nazi germanys leader.

Hindenburg also had his name given to the famous air ship which burst into flames when docking.

The approximate date is thought to be 1915-1920,as hindenburg died in 1934.

This portrait is in very good condition and is an oil on canvas laid down on board and was reframed a long time ago.

To a collector of german WWI & ww11 items, this portrait is as good a piece as you could wish to acquire.

Full title of ownership is confirmed and legal rights to sell this portrait are detailed in paperwork on file.
