Description

A particularly good quality Victorian burr walnut and inlaid credenza from Debenham & Hewitt of Cavendish House, Cheltenham (stamped on door). The top having book matched walnut and moulded edge above the shaped frieze with subtle boxwood inlay. The centre door with fielded burr walnut panel, further boxwood inlay and flanked by applied half turnings with acanthus carved capitals. The ends having bow fronted glazed doors which open to walnut and inlaid faced shelves which retain the original velvet linings. The whole raised on a conforming shaped plinth with outline inlaid banding. This attractive credenza is also embellished with ormolu beading and has working locks with keys.
