Description

Frederick William Jackson RBA,NEA 1859-1918 was born at Middleton,near Manchester,his father a photographer and art dealer.Jackson initially studied at Oldham School of Art under William Scott,and then at Manchester School of Art,and the Academie Julian,Paris.After completing his studies in Paris,Jackson studied extensively in Europe,also visiting Morocco before returning to England.He settled in Hinderwell near Whitby.From there he exhibited frequently at the Manchester Academy and at the annual exhibition of the Yorkshire Union of Artists,as well as London.From 1880 he exhibited at the Royal Academy on a regular basis and also showed at the Paris Salon.In 1886 he became a founder member of the New English Art Club ,the Staithes Group and the Staithes Art Club.His work is much collected. ‘ The Old Rectory, Hinderwell near Whitby,North Yorkshire’ signed watercolour, image size 24x34cms,framed size 38x48 cms.Housed in its original gilt frame.
