The centre of the stretcher base of the frame having an unusual patent-style ‘scissor-action’ folding hinged mechanism, the whole raised on shaped legs with circular paterae detail and fitted with original gilded brass castors and wheels.

Probably originally conceived to be used in the library of gentleman’s residence but also practical for use in a gallery or retail environment for storage and display of folios , loose engravings, maps , charts or documents.
In excellent condition with a pleasing ‘golden’ patination and colour to the selected figured walnut.
