Taxidermy - Female Black Grouse By P Spicer & Sons Of Royal Leamington Spa

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Kendall House Antiques Ltd.

Recently fresh to the market from a deceased farm estate in Shropshire. A case that has been shielded from the light and has probably been in the same family since it was first commissioned by Spicers. Circa 1904 -1920. This fine female Black Grouse sometimes referred by country folk as a ‘Grey Hen’ is magnificently modelled against a remarkable painted back drop within a ebonized case with gilt quadrant beading to the front (this was the firms most expensive model) and is all in beautiful condition. Currently sitting on my own chest of draws and being fully admired.
