Antique Regulator Longcase

19th century
Description

A fine quality London regulator longcase clock. A mahogany case of slim proportions with a recessed oval base panel. A circular silvered engraved dial of regulator layour showing hour and seconds dials with minute hand pointer. A brass weight to the spoked pulley wheel and brass cylinder pendulum. A six-spoke mechanism with dead-beat escapement of 8-day duration.

James Gent of London is recorded in Loomes' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working circa 1869.
