Late 19thc Indian Silver and Hardwood Walking Cane Stick C1890

Description

An impressive Indian silver and hardwood walking cane or stick dating to c1890. This is a substantial walking cane, just under 93cm in length. The pommel is made of highly decorated silver with a curving and scrolling foliage design typical of Indian craftsmanship. The top of the pommel is also engraved with a shape like a willow tree with low hanging branches, also making the shape of an M. The stick is approx 3cm diameter, made of a hardwood, similar to birch. The stick has a polished finish and a good brass fitted tip. The silver is in excellent condition though the pommmel has a slight dent but no holes. Overall the condition is to be expected of a piece 120 years old. The stick would have served a tall and important owner.
