This enchanting 19th-century landscape painting by Danish artist Peter Busch (1861-1942) depicts a tranquil river within a majestic wood. A graceful, near-ethereal, pinkish light falls through a canopy of ancient trees. Another realm seemingly appears between a gateway of strong verticals. It’s a middle ground between worlds, a place to discover and disappear. It’s a timeless river once loved by the artist.
