Exceptional George III Fine Silver Wick Trimmers / Candle Snuffers

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique George III English sterling silver wick trimmers / candle snuffers. The trimmers are beautifully decorated to the handles. The domed anterior is embellished with a lightly engraved armorial on one side, and when opened the clear hallmarks are visible for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1809, Lion Passant, along with the silver maker''s mark:  William Bennett.  The hinged scissor action works perfectly.  These Trimmers stand on three circular legs with splayed ball feet. 
 
 
 
A very fine example of antique Georgian silverware and in wonderful condition.   Great for a collector!
 
 
 
Hallmarks:  London 1809 by William Bennett.
 
 
 
Measurement:  Length:  17.8 cm    Width at widest part:  5.4 cm       Weight:  123.1 grams (good heavy gauge).
