Circa 1884- a Heavy Brass Doorstop

19th century
Description

Circa 1884 a beautifully made and heavy brass doorstop with the original iron weighted base, marked on the bottom Rd T4813 and there are several registered marks and numbers on the inside at the top and we hope to put a photograph of those online soon. It is thought this could have been made by William Tonks & Sons.

The doorstop measures 31cm in height, the base is 13cm wide and 7cm deep and the item has been polished but not lacquered.

It is in good condition, the handle does lean forwards slightly at the top but this is more obvious in the images. The doorstop weighs 2.9kgs.

Postage and packing within the UK mainland only is included in the price and for outside areas or abroad please contact us for a delivery quote.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
