Art Deco Spelter Figure Attb Lorenzl, C1930

Description

Beautifully detailed and crafted Art Deco female figure in cold painted spelter dating to the 1930's. She's unsigned but attributed to Josef Lorenzl. She looks very graceful at ant angle, detailing is lovely. Her condition is very good with minimal signs of wear, just the expected foxing spots but no structural damage or repairs. She stands on a stepped alabaster plinth, which has minor signs of age.

A famous bronze sculptor in the Art Deco period, Josef Lorenzl worked from the early part of the 20th Century and started his career at a foundry in the Vienna Arsenal where he learned the techniques of bronze casting. Here Lorenzl designed bronze and chryselephantine figurines and also works in spelter.
