Description

A beautiful pair of antique Swedish caned bergere armchairs in satin birch. They were recently imported from Sweden, and they date from around the 1910-1920 period.

The quality is amazing, with sweeping frames that have beautiful curves and intricate carving. The arms are scrolled with acanthus leaf carving, there is profuse and fine carving around the base, sitting on lovely claw and ball feet. The satin birch has a gorgeous colour tone and amazing grain patterns. The seats are very generous and the sprung cushions make them extremely comfortable to relax in.

We have recently had these stripped and re-polished, the cushions have also been newly upholstered in our cream cotton fabric. There is no damage to the double caned backs and sides, the condition is excellent throughout.
