A well made and attractive ''barrel'' mallet....used by the barrel maker in the making of wooden coopered barrels....this one was someone''s pride and joy as it has an intricate decoration on the mallet head of close incised ring turning also reflected on the handle, ....made out of lignum vitae, it has gained a very good natural colour and is in excellent condition.
English. C1860-80.
