Description

A lovely example of an early 20thc Oriental camphor trunk c1920. A colonial piece. The camphor trunk is embellished with carved naturalistic images - the top and sides display an ancient prunus tree, the front displays a group of bamboo and the back displays a water lily or lotus. The edges of the top and base are carved with a bamboo effect, which is repeated on the stepped carved feet. The brass lock is ornately decorated. The inside reveals a framed structure within the trunk, a mark of quality and the scent of the camphor rises as the lid opens. In beautiful and very good condition, with lovely colour and patina.
